Had this problem come up on two laptops - same model HP Probook G6. Tried the above fixes, but nothing seemed to work. Was finally able to fix it by updating Windows to newest version and installing this audio driver from hp's website.
I did also implement the above fix, so it's possible it helped too. ProBook G6's here I had users start complaining about a week ago, when Teams call use ramped up for those users. I expect it was happening all along, but those users were on shorter, less frequent video calls. That setting seems to have helped most users but it came back for others , so I think that the hardware acceleration also causes or exacerbates the random muting behavior. It still picks up some sound, but you have to be against the microphone and the output is just white noise. Unfortunately, the fix has not corrected the problem.
